EVERYTHING ON
WINDS OF TIME
CONCEPT NOTE
How do we, as human beings, describe our existence? Well, the human body can best be defined as a concrete structure built up of various emotions, judgments, thoughts, memories, and much more than this. Let’s put it straight in this way: we, as human beings, are moreover an entirety of different spaces and aspects, a togetherness of various feelings.
My heart has always provoked me to do meaningful art shows reflecting my thoughts and ideas. May be it was the compulsion of my mind and heart, following which I came to the conclusion. The conclusion is this very show.
In absoluteness, if we visualise our lives, we may find them to be nothing but an ensemble of assorted situations and feelings, which, in a broader sense, can be termed spaces. In my opinion, these spaces can be personal, social, cultural, professional, and, in today’s society, social media.
On another paradigm, just a thought: if we delete (DEL) these spaces from our lives, they transform into POINT ZERO. Through this very display, I have tried to showcase the different spaces of our lives that help us exist and without which a single second of our existence can be nullified. We can’t breathe without it, and we can’t live without it; it’s all in one word, “spaces,” without which our existence becomes practically impossible!
It’s been my existential credo as a contemporary art curator that I express my perspectives through my exhibitions and my displays. I endeavour to demonstrate a comprehensive impression of modern human life and society composed of ‘SPACES’ through the usage of art creations by contemporary artists materialising the panorama of this show.
Being a part of the art fraternity and associated with different art exhibitions and art projects, I have been fortunate enough to work with senior contemporary artists in Bengal. Ever since the idea of this show has cropped up in my mind, I have had the desire to explore the art and the angst associated with it of ADITYA BASAK, ATIN BASAK, CHANDRA BHATTACHARJEE, DEBNATH BAS, JAYASHREE CHAKRAVARTY, and PRASANTA SAHU. I always had the belief that these creative minds would provide apt justification for the concepts and ideas this show is all about. The display of art works by these art practitioners elucidates the very title and theme of the show.
